A new wave of hope and transformation is sweeping through some of Monrovia’s most vulnerable communities as the Believers Eastern Church launches a series of life-changing initiatives aimed at empowering children and families.
Through its Community Transformation Project (CTP) and the newly established Believers Football Academy, the church is restoring dignity, nurturing potential, and building a brighter future for Liberia’s next generation.
Over 200 people from the seven zones of Doe Community gathered recently to witness the church’s transformative work in action. At the heart of the initiative was the distribution of school bags, shoes, copybooks, and stationery to 1,000 children across the Lakpazee, Matadi, and Doe communities a vital support as families prepare for the new academic year.
Evangelist Aashish of the Believers Eastern Church said the Community Transformation Project was designed to go beyond charity. “Our aim is to bring hope, healing, and transformation to restore dignity, encourage self-reliance, and support both spiritual and social renewal in the community,” he explained.
The CTP, led by Father Sachin Pakhre, is part of the church’s broader mission to empower communities through education and development. The initiative has already made significant impact, conducting 14 awareness programs in Doe Community, 19 in Lakpazee, and 12 in Central Matadi, reaching over 1,300 parents with training and guidance on how to support their children’s education.
“Education is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty,” Father Sachin emphasized. “This project is about partnership and building together. It’s not about what the church can give, but what we can achieve together.”
The Community Transformation Project has become a beacon of hope for families struggling with poverty and instability. In neighborhoods where daily survival often overshadows educational priorities, the project is offering children not just school supplies but a renewed sense of possibility.
In addition to its education initiatives, the Believers Eastern Church is also transforming lives through sports. The newly launched Believers Football Academy in Doe Community is providing children with structured activities, mentorship, and a platform to pursue their dreams both on and off the field.
For years, thousands of children in Doe Community have had little to no structured opportunities, often spending their time aimlessly on the streets. But according to Coach Batee Moore, head of the Believers Football Academy, that reality is now changing.
“Football is not just a game; it’s a foundation,” Coach Moore explained. “Every great footballer starts somewhere, and we believe the next George Weah or Lionel Messi could come from right here in Doe Community.”
Coach Moore emphasized that the academy is designed to do far more than just teach sports. It focuses on holistic growth, combining football training with mentorship, education, character building, and community engagement. “Our mission is to help children develop discipline, teamwork, humility, and leadership skills,” he said. “Even those who are often overlooked have the potential to become leaders and ambassadors for Liberia.”
“Many people see these children as nobodies, but we see potential,” Coach Moore added. “Through this academy, we can turn that potential into greatness. We want them to dream big and believe they can represent Liberia and compete on the global stage.”
As part of the academy’s development program, 50 promising young players have been selected under Coach Moore’s guidance to continue advanced training, with an additional 20 placed in reserve. He explained that the selection was based not only on football skill but also on teamwork, humility, discipline, and a genuine passion for growth both on and off the field.
Coach Moore also revealed that the academy’s ambitions extend beyond Liberia. “We are not just preparing these boys and girls for local competitions our dream is to see them compete internationally,” he stated. “We want them to wear the Liberian flag with pride and show the world what is possible when opportunity meets determination.”
“This is about more than football,” Coach Moore concluded. “It’s about shaping the future, building leaders, and giving our children a reason to hope.”
Both the Community Transformation Project and the Believers Football Academy are driven by the same core mission: to empower Liberia’s children and families with hope, dignity, and opportunity. Guided by faith and compassion, these initiatives are transforming entire communities proving that when people come together, powerful change is possible.
Through school support, parental education, and youth empowerment programs, the Believers Eastern Church is not only addressing immediate needs but also laying the foundation for long-term transformation.
As Fr. Sachin put it, “This is only the beginning. With God’s grace, we will continue to walk alongside our communities, build stronger futures, and create opportunities for every child to rise.”
