MONROVIA-The Liberia National Police has begun a search action, following the discovery of arms and ammunition at the Freeport of Monrovia and Brewerville outside the capital.
The search is expected to take effect within the 15 political subdivisions of Liberia.
Police had vowed that during these exercises, they will remove unauthorized Security features from vehicles across the Country.
On January 4, 2023, the LNP informed the media that it has confiscated some arms and ammunition at the National Port Authority and in Brewerville outside the capital of Monrovia.
The arms and ammunition in question were seized during joint security operations as a result of a tip-off by an undisclosed individual.
Police Inspector General Patrick Sudue, said the arms and ammunition confiscated have the propensity to destabilize the entire country, hence, they have resolved to embark on a such search.
While the police are still in search of some of the ammunition, Sudue assured the public of a peaceful and safe atmosphere as the country heads to elections in October.
