AMEZU Holds 28TH Graduation Ceremony

On Tuesday June 26, 2018, the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University (AMEZU) held her 28th graduation ceremony at it Vincent Town, Po River, Bomi County main campus.

Rev. Dr. Dwight Bernard Cannon, Sr. The pastor of the Wesley AME Zion Church in Burlington, North Carolina (2013-Present) and the executive director for global mission of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church delivering his convocation statement called on the graduates to stand for something as they are walking out of the walls of the Zion University.

He reminded the graduates of the vital role they have to play in the rebuilding process of mama Liberia. He cautioned the graduates to serve as ambassadors of positive change as they are leaving the Zion University. Rev. Dr. Dwight Cannon, Sr. hailed the graduates for the step taken to be coming out of university. Dr. Cannon called on the graduates to emulate good example that others coming after them will follow.

Rev. Dr. Cannon is a pastor of the Wesley AME Zion Church in Burlington, North Carolina (2013-present) and the executive director for global Missions of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church (2016-Present). For his part, the President of the AME Zion University, Dr. Charles Wesley Ford said during school year under review 2017-2018, there were many challenges with the help of the almighty God he and his staffers were able to overcome those challenges. The AMEZU University President further noted that since he took over the institution as President there have been very cordial working relationship between he and staffers at the institution.

Dr. Ford explained that the institution under his leadership as President the students have been learning under good atmosphere. The Zion University President stated that there has been regular electricity power for the students.  According to him, the students have been very cooperative to his administration.

The A.M.E. Zion university commenced in 1983 with the funding of the A.M.E. Zion school of business, attached to the A.M.E. Zion Academy.

In 1987, the A.M.E. Zion community college was established, offering associate degree in criminal justice administration and law enforcement, Liberal Arts, Business, as well as diploma in Trauma Counseling, and held its first convocation in May 1989. In 1996, by an Act of the National legislature, the A.M.E. Zion College established with Rev. Fredrick Umoja, Serving as its first President.
