Ambassadors: President Boakai cancels all Ambassador-At large and Envoys status
MONROVIA-President Joseph Boakai on Thursday announced the cancellation of all appointments of Ambassadors-at-Large, Special Envoys and Trade and Investment representatives with immediate effect.
The Minister of Information, Culture Affairs and Tourism, Mr. Jerolinmek Piah told a news conference at the Ministry.
According to him, ‘re-appointments will be made based on the country’s governance need for the roles in the current dispensation. Moreover, he said, such re-appointments will also come with clear and specific terms of references and reporting lines with the framework of the country’s Foreign Policy Direction. He said, the line of reporting was not in order as some people reported to Foreign Affairs, Executive Manion, Investment center and other areas. This, he was incorrect.
“By directive of the President, H.E. Joseph Nyuma Boakai, all Ambassadors-at-Large, Special Envoys, Trade and Investment Representatives are hereby cancelled with immediate effect” Minister Piah said.
According to him, re-appointments will be made based on the country’s governance need for the roles in the current dispensation.
“It is important to state that we will ensure that the process will be dignified and all those who served will be properly notified and thanked for their respective services to the country” he concluded.
