Ailing Journalist Sends Out SOS Call

-Fears His Life…if

An ailing Liberian journalist has sent out an SOS call to all for the need to help save his life as he suffers from an unusual sore believed to be that of what is widely considered ‘African Sign’.

Family members of Henry K. Bestman, a full member of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and member of the Association of Judicial Reporters (AJUR), are kindly sounding the ‘Save Our Soul’ (SOS) plea in order to help him seek medical assistance.

According to a release issued in Monrovia over the weekend, the SOS call from the ailing Liberian journalist is going out to all especially the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia, His Honor Cllr. Francis Korkpor, Justice Minister, Cllr. Musa Dean, Assistance Minister, Laffete Gould, AJUR, Charles Ananaba, CEO Omega Insurance Company, Mr. Leonard Kransass a philanthropist and all heads of media institutions and other well-meaning Liberians and philanthropic organizations.

Journalist Bestman is suffering from a terrible wound below his left-hand elbow, since 2004 when he was struck down by what is commonly known and referred to in Liberia as “Fire Go-wa”, a sore believed to come from witch doctors when it is prayed for by an individual against others.

Since then, relatives and friends have been struggling with him from one hospital to another, but all with little or no improvement as condition continues to worsened by the days.

To further increase his ailing health condition, he has been diagnosed of diabetes (more sugar) something medical practitioners have hinted is next to cancer.

Bestman… “Please help me with anything that God may lay in your heart, I don’t want my hand to be amputated”.

Health practitioners have advised family members of the ailing Liberian journalist that his condition can be taken care of in Ghana, but needs one thousand three hundred (US$1, 300) United States Dollars to do a ‘Skin Draft Operation’.

In the absence of this, the journalist will be compelled to seek treatment from traditional herbalists.

Meanwhile, journalist Bestman is using the opportunity to appreciate and thank all those who have been helping him with handouts to seek medication and have daily bread over the years.

He named some of the people who have been generous to him as Associate Justice Kaninah Ja’neh, Solicitor General, Darku Mulbah, Philip N. Wesseh, Managing Editor, Inquirer Newspaper and Cecil Grifits, President, Law Enforcement Officer and Magistrate amongst others.

Anyone wishing to help Mr. Bestman for this worthy cause to help save his life can do so through Mr. Charles Coffey, President of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) and Mr. Philip N. Wesseh of the Inquirer Newspaper. The LoneStar GSM number of +231 886516533 can be used to timely contact the journalist for help or contribution.
