The administration of the United Methodist University (UMU) has appointed Madam Medina Wesseh as the interim President of the institution following the sudden death of the University’s President, Rev. Dr. Emmanuel Bailey last Wednesday.
According to information obtained by Dnnews, the late President reportedly collapsed on the university’s main campus in Monrovia and was later pronounced dead, a tragedy that has left faculty, students, and staff in deep shock.
Madam Wesseh, a former Secretary General of the Mano River Union and a respected public servant, is expected to steer the affairs of the university during this transitional period. Her appointment comes at a critical moment as the institution grapples with the unexpected leadership vacuum.
University officials say Wesseh’s experience in administration and regional governance positions prepared her to provide stability while plans for a permanent replacement are being considered.
Further details surrounding the late President’s passing and the university’s next steps are expected to be released in the coming days.
