MONROVIA-The Liberian President, George M. Weah has described his recent visit to the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates(UAE) as “fruitful and rewarding” for the people of Liberia.

He told reporters that Liberia stands to benefit immensely from his trip.

“We were able to ensure that our country benefits from international support related to our forest and other resources. There is a forest fund, and there is a need we tap from it,” he said.

He said, “I am happy that it was fruitful.”

The Liberian Leader touched down at the Roberts International Airport Tuesday, March 28, 2023, following a week-long international visit to the United States ,and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The arrival of the President was earlier awaited by Liberians, mainly those from the Government and Members of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC).

One of the groups that has gone to receive the President at the RIA was a group under the banner, “Battle Cry.” The group chanted slogans and battle cries in favor of the Liberian Leader.

When the Liberian Leader touched down, the group was seen in an exuberant mood singing with loud voices, “Your leave us, da Weah we want. “The thing they are looking for, they will get it” among other slogans.

According to the Liberian Leader, he had a series of engagements with partners in the US and the UAE.

The President, in a brief chat with the media, said the week-long trip was one of his official engagements with International Partners and Stakeholders, across the world.

President Weah talked about the huge biodiversity of Liberia, including a huge forest reserve.

As a Chief Patron of Sports, President Weah said, he hurried to watch Liberia take on her counterpart, South Africa at the Samuel K. Doe.

“I flew from Accra just to be part of the game. I hope that the National Team will do her best,” he intoned.

Commenting on rumors that the government is not supporting the Lone Star, President Weah said,” We are supporting the Lone Star, but what we will not do is to report on whatever we are doing as a government on social media.”
