MONROVIA-Following a Christian crusade in New Kru Town, a suburb of Monrovia, 29 persons are said to have died, according to state radio quoting the Deputy information minister.

The stampede took place at the D-Tweh high school in New Kru Town, a densely populated area.

The Deputy information minister told state radio, LBS-Libera Broadcasting Corporation, that so far 29 persons are said to have died. He said they had gone for a Christian crusade but did not give further details.

Deputy minister Jahlaway   Tonpoe had gone to visit the hospital, Redemption where many of the dead bodies are.

However, eyewitnesses on the scene said the crusade was organized by More Grace International Ministries that is owned  by  pastor Abraham Kromah

“We were to the place last night. After the crusade, we just heard heavy noise from outside. Some people were running to come inside the fence because they said they saw Zogos with cutlasses and knives coming towards them. So, many of the people ran inside,” Samuel Wleh, a resident of the place said.
